  • Venturesome Bridging Loans: A Case Study

In 2009, CAF Venturesome provided a bridging loan to The Andrew Lees Trust (ALT), which runs programmes aimed at empowering local communities in Madagascar.  The focus of ALT is on providing social and environmental education and training in some of the most remote communities on the island.

The ALT had secured a grant from the European Council for its community radio and drought mitigation programmes, but as this funding is typically in arrears and 10 percent is retained until projects are completed, the organisation was left with a gap in their cash flow.  Venturesome provided ALT with a £85,000 loan to bridge their cash flow for both programmes until the final payments had been made.

Having successfully completed both programmes and received the final reimbursement from the EC, ALT repaid Venturesome in full - so that the money can be recycled and invested in other charities.

If you’d like to speak to Venturesome about a bridging loan for your charity, please do get in touch! We’re always happy to hear from charities and to take you through the options.
