  • CAF Social Impact Fund investor featured in the FT!

The largest individual social investor in the UK, Dr Shamil Chandaria, was featured in the Financial Times this weekend discussing his philanthropy.

We’ve told you all about him before!  He invested £2.5m in our CAF Social Impact Fund and thanks to his investment we’ll be able to help around 100 charities and invest around £4.8m in them!

His interview asked him a series of questions on philanthropy, and, of course, his views on social investment. Without any prior briefing (promise!), he gave a great answer when asked his views on social investment:

“I see social investment as being as well as, not instead of, donation.  I come from a business background, where many types of finance - loans, equity, venture capital - suit different needs.  Similarly charity can benefit from different types of finance.”

We’re delighted that the Financial Times have featured him in their weekend paper.  We’re sure that his example will encourage others in the City to think about charitable giving and social investment.
